School competition cont'Schools are invited to organise excursions to visit The Great Siege Diorama at The Great Siege Events Museum in Republic Square, Entrance fee for participants Primary school students (from 8 years of age) pay €2.25 each. Secondary school students pay €2.50 each. Competition All students who visit The Great Siege Events Museum may participate in the story writing and drawing competition. Prizes are being sponsored by The Great Siege Events Museum and Sagħtar magazine. Students are to be encouraged to show innovation, creativity and imagination in their submissions. Their entry should illustrate this to the full. Work that is found to be copied verbatim will be automatically disqualified. Theme Walk through The Great Siege of Malta and express yourself, with a drawing or a short story, about what struck you most. Creativity and originality are important. The Competition is divided into two categories: Primary Schools Pupils from Year 4 to Year 6 can participate. Create a story by combining drawings, collage or computer-generated images together with a short text in either English or Maltese. The format to be used will be provided by The Great Siege personnel. Participation is only possible following a school visit to The Great Siege Events Museum. Secondary Schools Students from Form 1 to Form 5 can participate. Create a story by combining drawings, collage or computer- generated images together with a short text in either English or Maltese. Prizes for each of the two categories First prize €20 book voucher and one year subscription to Sagħtar. (For both the winning student and the school) Second prize €10 book voucher and one year subscription to Sagħtar. (For both the winning student and the school) Third prize One year subscription to Sagħtar. (For both the winning student and the school) At least three entries in each category must be received so that a winner can be declared. The decision of the jury is final. The date and venue of the prize giving ceremony will be announced later. The winning entries will be: Ø put online on the website of The Great Siege Events Museum on www.greatsiege.com.mt; Ø exhibited at the premises of The Great Siege Events Museum. Deadline for competition The competition will run between October 2010 and April 2011. All submissions should have the name of the student, school stamp, VIP Kids Card No. written on a separate sheet enclosed in a sealed envelope and attached to the entry. VIP Kids Card Students who visit the show will be issued a Great Siege/Café Premier VIP Kids Card. With this card students may visit The Great Siege Events Museum for free when accompanied by two paying adults. This card also entitles students to a selection from the children’s menu for free when they are accompanied by two paying adults for lunch or dinner at Café Premier. The
